Thanksgiving Day we decided to stay at our house and enjoy our dinner. We were thinking that my Dad would be released from the hospital by then and that my parents would be able to enjoy the day with us, but that did not happen. My brother Lee did come down though. Lee and I did the dinner together. The night before we made 2 pumpkin pies, an apple pie, a cherry pie, and a blueberry pie. Then we decided we needed to be in the kitchen no later that 7:00 a.m. Well we were a little late on that by being in the kitchen at 7:10. I started the stuffing and he cleaned the turkey. All was ready by having the turkey stuffed and in the oven by 7:56 a.m. It was supposed to take 5-6 hours. So we continued doing odds and ends for the dinner. We showered and got ready and ran to the store for some last minute things. Things were going really well and smooth, but I started to get a little stressed because I still had a lot of stuff I wanted to get ready. So my little brother being the jokester that he thinks he is said to my at around noon, "Brittney your turkey is done!" My heart dropped...I was not ready at all for this and had so much left to do and then he started laughing. It is no wonder I stress about things! Anyway we got everything ready and was just waiting for the turkey to be finished and Lee had informed me that he was going to check it because it had been almost six hours. He checked it about a half hour before that. Sure enough the turkey came out of the oven at 2:00. We finished the mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, rolls, and green bean casserole and we sitting down to eat by 3:00. It was the smoothest Thanksgiving that I have ever made, I have personally done 3, and it was AWESOME! We had punch, deviled eggs, tossed salad, fruit salad, a relish plate with dill dip, a cheese ball and crackers, mashed potatoes, corn, green bean casserole, rolls, stuffing and turkey and gravy. It was a very nice dinner and I am so thankful for such a wonderful family!
Some of the food that was prepared for our big feast!
Kyleigh and Bailyn were so cute. They asked for about one of everything and ate about one of nothing! They thought it was fun though. After the mess was cleaned up we went and visited Grandpa and Grandma at the hospital and Grandma came back up with us to do the Black Friday thing! Joe and I went out at midnight and my Mom and I were going to go back out at 4:00 but I wimped out. We didn't go out until 8:30, but we still had a lot of fun and thankfully, most of my shopping is done!
