Aseptic Encephalitis/Meningitis

Dad is officially home again.  He is doing much better.  I went and seen him at the hospital yesterday and had a very nice visit with him and my mom.  The doctors have diagnosed him with aseptic encephalitis/meningitis.  Basically they don't know what caused him to have the brain infection, but think it could possibly be the high intensity chemo that did it.  They are currently treating him with a high dose of antiviral medication for 14 days and then will decrease it back to the dose he was taking previously.  He does not have a need for oxygen anymore.  He is trying to eat better and is moving around.  He also had a scan of his heart done while he was in the hospital and it came back that everything looked well.  So he is back on the road to recovery!  I just want to let you know that if you want to leave a note for my Dad you can always post a comment here on my blog under the comments area and I will make sure he gets it or you can email my Mom at cindie238@yahoo.com.  Thanks for all the prayers and concern!
